Jeffray Ryding and Tom Angle have worked and ridden together since 1977. They share a lifelong love of horses, a dedication to teaching and an addiction to Eventing.

Jeffray Ryding, a life long horse woman starting at age 4 who is still enjoying her life long commitments to horsemanship. In her early experience with horses she was able to fox hunt, show her pony in hunter competitions ( later after moving to horses and expanding to jumpers) and eagerly to ride any horse offered. This gave her experience with cutting, polo, walking horses, gaited horses, combined driving among other horse breeds and sports. Jeffray discovered Eventing in her early 20's and that became her passion.
"The most fun you can have with a horse." became her motto. Fortune brought her together with 2 marvelous horses, an amazing teacher and the circumstances to pursue this passion. She competed to the highest levels of the sport enjoying wonderful partnerships with outstanding horses throughout her career.
Simultaneously, Jeffray pursued her profound interest in Education, particularly the education of gifted children. This pursuit of education folded in beautifully with her desire to share her love and knowledge of the horses.
In 1977 she landed in Santa Fe and with Tom Angle and Pat Donahue became part of a training and boarding business that became Goose Downs Farm, started The Sangre de Crist0 Pony Club, founded The Event Organizing Committee, Inc. with the inaugural Diamond L Horse Trials.
For the last decade Jeffray has been a member of The Instructors Certification Committee developing a system of certifying Eventing Instructors. She is a Level III USEA Certified Instructor and feels this work has given her new depth and breath in her horsemanship and teaching.
She is currently pursuing making a national program to teach and certify horsemanship that will go hand and hand with the ICP Program.

Though no longer competing she teaches all levels of riding and horsemanship, organizes Events and serves as the District Commissioner of The Santa Fe Pony Club.
She gives generously to her students, drawing on her 64 years of experience with horses to bring her students into the sport of Eventing with skill, safety and fun.

Tom Angle, husband and partner to Jeffray, has had a life-long love of horses; from childhood "cowboying" and riding anything and everything.
His teen years took him away from horses to ski racing and car racing. He pursued skiing and business in college but started his adult life as a mechanic working on Porsches and Mercedes. All of this left him with skills he has used in his life with horses.
In 1977 he met Pat Donahue and Jeffray and reunited with his passion for horses. Goose Downs developed from this and with Goose Downs Tom's career as an Event rider. His first full 3 Day was in the early eighties and in his career he competed in over 20 long format 3 Day Events.
Tom has had many wonderful equine partners in his career and is now partnered with his beloved Viking; a Goose Downs home-bred. He also shares his riding and horsemanship knowledge through teaching. He is a Level II USEA Certified Instructor.
Tom's other career track has been the development and care for Goose Downs. His knowledge of footing, soil and climate as well as his understanding of Eventing led him to become a Licensed Cross Country course designer. Over the last decade he has designed courses for Events from Arizona to Illinois.

Both Jeffray and Tom participated in the VI Hopkins seminar through the United States Dressage Federation.

Jeffray and Tom continue to actively study and train. Other members of the Goose Downs "family" regularly compete and coach all over the country providing an overview of what is new, what works and what doesn't. Combining their experience with the active clinic program there is always something new to learn and share at Goose Downs.

Lindsay Lechner grew up in Santa Fe, NM and began her riding career at Nix Stables at age 8. At age 10 she joined the Santa Fe Pony Club and discovered what was to become a lifelong obsession: the sport of eventing. Lindsay eventually graduated B from Santa Fe Pony Club, Southwest Region and went on to compete in eventing throughout the US including USEA Areas I, VIII, IX and X.
In 2008, Lindsay graduated Magna cum Laude from Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Equine Business Management and Riding. During her time at Johnson and Wales, Lindsay also studied abroad at the National German Riding School located at the Westphalian State Stud in Warendorf, Germany.
Since college, Lindsay has focused on sharing her knowledge and passion for horses with others. After spending a few years running a large lesson and boarding facility in Ohio, Lindsay returned to New Mexico and currently teaches at camps and clinics across the Southwest while serving as the Joint DC and head Instructor of Santa Fe Pony Club.

In early 2014 Lindsay joined the team at GDF. In November 2015 she passed her USEA ICP Level I Certification. Today Lindsay is looking forward to continuing in the ICP program as she works to improve her eye and add tools for teaching and riding. She is also excited to learn all she can from Jeffray and Tom while working towards her current goals of:

  • Competing at the FEI level in eventing
  • Receiving her USDF Bronze medal
  • Continuing in the USEA ICP Program
  • Developing young horses for all levels of eventing
