Please check back for exciting updates soon!

It's only April and there is sure a lot going on at Goose Downs. The main thing is that the Web Site is moving into the 21st Century. We hope you enjoy it.

During the winter Madison McKee joined up with her new equine partner, "Think of Chocolate" aka Ruby. Thank you Courtney Cooper and CSquare Farm. We are looking forward to an exciting Spring for these two.
Bittersweet but a great outcome for Wyatt Earp as Deb Normann decide to cut back on her riding and lucky Tim Willms was in the right place at the right time. These two have already scored their first win and are ready to make that into a streak.
Lots of healing for riders and horses through the winter but the good thing - everyone is coming out sound and healthy.
Over the winter the Santa Fe Pony Club sponsored several great programs. The Winter Lecture Series featuring Dr Dan Marks, Dr Richard Patton and Courtney Kizer was full of super information and great entertainment.
We also hosted the "Everything But The Horse Rally" for Pony Club. The Santa Fe Club is working very hard to send participants in Quiz and Eventing to the National Pony Club Championships in Lexington KY this summer. This Rally, the Quiz Rallies and the Eventing Rally coming up in May are essential parts of getting to "Champs" qualified and ready. As Pony Club has expanded to include adults we have people of all ages participating in all the activities.
The Eventing X Games Series is another facet of the program. Our 1st Games we made into a Cross Country Schooling Day. Next week will be the first of the Games with 5 more Games to follow through the Summer and Fall.

Las Cruces Schooling HT - February 19th - 20th, 2011

Ahh Las Cruces... the warmer, windier alternative. Goose Downs had seven horses from pre-Comp to Training but we would have gladly been there with one horse in order to enjoy the warmth.

This is our "shake out the rust" Event in the early spring and I am always glad we go to find out what we forgot. And we did from Alouette’s blanket to Tom’s riding clothes - Oh MY! But the horses were great and did their jobs well. We lost the entire Parker family to flu and Claire did not get to finish out of her 1st and 3rd positions from Saturday. Tom and Alouette finished 3rd despite borrowed clothing. Annie and Spider were absolute stars as Annie cantered her first course ever to collect her Pre-comp Ct 1st place ribbon. Then on Sunday she schooled around the cross-country course. Wow. Thank goodness for Stephanie and Jiggy – they looked like they had been going all winter for a 1st in Training. Stephanie’s young horse got good mileage, finished 2nd and did not sell Stephanie any real estate.

So thank you to all the people who work so hard to put this on. Goose Downs appreciates you.

Sally O’Connor at Goose Downs - January 23rd, 2011

Well the frostbite clinic, Sally O’Connor’s late winter visit to Goose Downs, was in fact balmy compared to the other weather we have had. Ten riders worked on their dressage over two days preparing for the early season opener at Las Cruces in February. Sally teaches all levels of riders and no matter how snow-bound and out of shape horses and riders were everyone came away with some improvement and the satisfaction that comes from that improvement.

We look forward to Sally’s return in May and again in August. Her clinic information and applications will be available 30 days before each clinic.
